Hexagonal Floating Platform with Pylons
thingiverse
Make it Float Challenge! How many coins do I need? My goal is to collect R100 in R2 coins, that's enough to buy two Pizzas. The concept is a hexagon-shaped platform with pylons like an oil rig. This idea was inspired by the PetroSA rig in Mossel Bay. Hey, rigs are stable and can carry a huge load! To add to the fun, I decided to create the challenge into a money box for kids to save. When you sink the ship, you can get the treasure! Printing the pylons in transparent should provide some motivation to save. I've tried to prepare the CAD file so it can be used with the customizer. Make sure you give enough clearance for your local coin size. There are a few problems: PLA doesn't make a water-tight vessel, and I only had clear PLA, so the pylons are printed in ABS. You'll need to clean up the locks on the prints. Acetone can be used to weld the ABS and seal the pylons. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/1snhbqMHO7U!
