Hexacopter
thingiverse
This is a customizable hexacopter model, perfect for 3D printing. It features lightweight hardware like 3mm screws and thermoset PEMS (available at http://youtu.be/VDVvFSR4EC4). The body, excluding batteries, motors, ESC, radio, and autopilot, weighs just 620 grams - a remarkable weight for its size and power. The arms are made from lightweight aluminum and can be easily replaced in the field. Currently, the ESC and batteries are secured with tie wraps, but a slide-out drawer for the battery and mounting brackets for the ESC are being designed. The BOM and xcopter calculator results for motor, propeller, ESC, and battery sizing have been posted. Flight times will likely be longer in real-life scenarios as the weight to carry a 600g payload (such as a camera with live video) has been doubled. For improved visibility, consider printing two of the motor ends in hot pink. The top lid holes are for navigation LEDs, while various 5mm holes throughout the design serve to reduce weight or provide future options. Detailed assembly instructions will be posted soon. Enjoy your flight!
