Hexacopter Construction Kit
thingiverse
Hello fellow DIY enthusiasts, I'm thrilled to share my "New Year's Gift" with you ;o) I've always wanted a Hexacopter, so I designed one that fits your needs perfectly. This construction kit lets you build the Hexa of your dreams. All parts are crafted to fit on a small printer like mine (Up!mini), holding all the electronics and other essentials I had at home. The design is incredibly compact, dense, and protected. You can combine different base parts as you see fit, giving you multiple options for mounting components and making this copter fly smoothly. If you want to enclose most of the electronics inside the body, you may need more space; in that case, print the bases with the "HIGH" affix. I also created two camera mounts in variations for the Mobius and Eachine MC01. You can use them separately or together. Even without dampers, I've achieved very smooth recordings from the Mobius. There are two types of motor booms available; you can combine them as you like (for example, 4 short + 2 long). Using the small ones will make the copter more agile, while the long ones will make it fly smoother. The ESCs fit snugly into the booms, giving you extra room inside the body. The optional feet click-fit onto any position on the booms and can be used with longer feet if you mount batteries underneath. Check out the pics above for one possible build; yours may look entirely different. It's up to you to create new parts that will help others optimize this copter – I'd appreciate it greatly. Things you'll need: * Screws in various lengths * 3 mm washers and nuts (self-locking) * Stand-offs of your choice (I've included different lengths for printing) Electronic components used: * 6 x 2204 Motors from Emax * 6 x 12A EMCs also from Emax * 1 x Naze32 (FC) * 1 x Graupner 12L Receiver * 1 x Eachine MC 01 (FPV) * 1 x Mobius (Doc-Cam) I've tested this Hexa with a 3S 2200 Lipo and achieved around 15 minutes of relaxed flying. With all the components, the copter weighs approximately 850g – plenty of power left to fly it around ;oD Keep an eye out for additional parts I'll release soon; these will let you build a Quad-Copter using almost the same parts as the Hexa! The announced Quad-Parts are available here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2023216 Have fun building your MAKE and share it with us! If you appreciate my contributions, feel free to send me a TIP... ;o) Print Settings: * Printer Brand: Up! * Printer Model: Up Mini * Rafts: Doesn't Matter * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.2 * Notes: Nothing special
