Hex Terrain Object Bases

Hex Terrain Object Bases

thingiverse

This is a collection of hex bases designed to fit over raised center sections of Heroscape tiles in several sizes and shapes. Nine designs are available - one- to five-hex linear rows, a three-hex triangle, a four-hex diamond, a two-by-three-hex block, and a seven-hex circle. These can be used to create terrain objects by attaching objects to the face of the base, then placing them on a mapboard. The bases are printed inverted to prevent bridging issues from occurring. A single base fits over a 38mm face-to-face raised hex; all other bases fit over 38mm hexes separated by 44.5mm, matching the Heroscape tile pattern. A source file in OpenSCAD generates correctly-sized bases with each unit measuring 0.1mm when loaded into front-end software for a 3D printer; if slicing software accurately converts one unit to 1mm, then scale down the STL file by ten times to produce the correct size.
