Hex Modular Mail
thingiverse
I have no clue why Thingiverse isn't displaying the .obj preview. Guess I'll just figure it out. I fell head over heels for NASA's chainmail concept, but most of what's available here is designed for filament printers. When you print them on a resin printer, the bases will expand and bond together. Inspired mainly by [Tailor's Hexmail](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1549131), I decided to put my own spin on it. This is an original work, albeit derivative, created entirely within Windows 10 3D Builder (the .3mf file is attached, so you can take a look and tweak it!). Anyway, since resin printing always causes the base layers to expand a bit too much (otherwise they won't stick to the print head), when scaled to 35% (roughly 2cm across), this model has rings large enough to give a ~5mm gap when pulled apart. After you print and clean it, you can cut the bit closest to the vertex. The idea is for the rings to interlock and pull at each other in the center.
With this file you will be able to print Hex Modular Mail with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Hex Modular Mail.
