<p><em>Update (Dec '19):</em> Variations for 2 sponges and napkins added (.stl files).</p> <p><em>Update (Aug '19):</em> I added a setting for the base thickness. It does seem to help balance a bit better when thicker. Replaced .scad file and uploaded a new .stl as SpongeHolderThickBottom.stl.</p> <p>Anyone know why Thingiverse is ignoring the .scad file I uploaded with this?</p> <p>I liked the overall style and design of SimmonsClassroom's "3 Sponge Holder" but wanted more holes. Figured the edges of a hexagonal tiling would be about as maximally "holey" as I could get. Wasn't sure what size I'd want, so decided to go with OpenSCAD and make it a Customizer.</p> <p>As usual, Customizer seems to be non-functional here on Thingiverse, but as of May '19, the downloads of OpenSCAD (<a href="http://www.openscad.org/">http://www.openscad.org/</a>) include the Customizer interface, so don't be shy to open the code! Values are in mm to make it easier to export and print.</p> <p>If you need a specific slot width, add the thickness to the desired slot width, then multiply that by the number of slots and finally add in one more thickness for the last panel.</p> <p>If I do a v2, might make a separate option for increasing the thickness of the base for some additional mass. Unless you make the spacing huge, most printers should have no trouble bridging the horizontal sides of the hexes and the perimeter overhang is only 30 degrees, so shouldn't need support. </p> I increased the number of perimeters to basically make infill 100%. </div></p></p></p> Category: Household Supplies
