The provided plate, printed with your chosen fill ratio, is used to determine the right size hex holes for a 1/2" shaft in your FRC robot's drive train or transmission parts. This plate, featuring incrementally increasing hole sizes from 0.500" to 0.535", allows you to test fit the shaft starting with the largest hole and working downward. The selected nominal hole size ensures a desired fit between the shaft and part. Be mindful that top and bottom layers may be smaller than interior layers, requiring possible filing or trimming for optimal fit. Reprinting the plate with modified settings can help account for changes in print speeds, accelerations, layer thicknesses, or fill ratios affecting hex hole fitting. Additionally, the plate's nominal dimensions (3.4375 x 1.75 x 0.250) serve as a reference to assess your printer's tolerance holding abilities.
