This is support less and can be printed on low quality settings on an well tuned FDM printer.Additional pieces are added to the collection to help you make different shapes if wanted. There are many other combinations of pieces that would work for printing. It is based on Borg's Commands & Colors system using some elements similar to his other games such as Commands & Colours: Napoleonics, The Great War, Memoir '44 and Battle Cry designed to simulate the "fog of war" and uncertainty encountered on real battlefields.Commands & Colors: Ancients focuses on the historic period of 3000 BC - 400 AD.ComponentsThe core game includes several hundred wood blocks in two colors for the Roman/Syracusan armies and Carthaginian army. Sheets of stickers representing different unit types must be affixed to the blocks prior to initial play. 16 small wooden blocks representing "victory banners" and 7 larger plastic dice must also have stickers applied. Extra stickers are included for use as replacements. The game also contains a full-color rule book, color scenario book, and two color two-page double-sided "cheat sheets" for players to reference during play for dice results and unit statistics. The board is folded card stock laid flat for play. Hexagonal terrain pieces are laid on the board when called for by a scenario. A deck of command cards is included.GameplayUnits are arranged on the board according to maps and scenario descriptions in the scenario book. Players are dealt a number of command cards equal to their "command value" for the chosen scenario. Often players have different command values and therefore different numbers of cards. Players take turns playing their cards to "order" units, generally allowing the ordered units to move and conduct combat. Cards often refer to a section of the battlefield, either left, center, or right, or some combination of these.[1] There are also many special cards that allow very specific actions. Play continues until one player earns the requisite number of victory banners for the scenario. Victory banners are earned each time a player completely eliminates an enemy unit or leader. Command and Colors system RSS FeedThe Command and Colors system is a simplified wargaming system designed by Richard Borg. Common elements of all Command and Colors games are a deck of Command Cards, which can be classified as Section cards and Tactics cards, and Battle Dice. In the Command and Colors System the playing field is divided into a center section and a right and left flank. Section cards are used to allow the ordering of unit(s) occupying one or more sections. Tactics cards are also available to allow special attacks. Another identifying feature of the system is the use of battle dice to resolve individual battles.Board Game: BattleLoreSection CardBoard Game: BattleLoreTactics CardBoard Game: BattleLoreBattle DiceGames that use the Command and Colors system2000Board Game: Battle CryBattle Cry published by Avalon Hill2004Board Game: Memoir '44Memoir '44 published by Days of Wonder2006Board Game: Commands & Colors: AncientsCommands & Colors: Ancients published by GMT Games2006Board Game: BattleLoreBattleLore published by Days of Wonder and Fantasy Flight Games2010Board Game: Commands & Colors: NapoleonicsCommands & Colors: Napoleonics published by GMT Games2010Board Game: Battle Cry: 150th Civil War Anniversary EditionBattle Cry: 150th Civil War Anniversary Edition republished by Avalon Hill2012Board Game: Samurai BattlesSamurai Battles published by Zvezda2013Board Game: BattleLore: Second EditionBattleLore: Second Edition published by Fantasy Flight Games2015Board Game: The Great WarThe Great War published by PSC Games2017Board Game: Commands & Colors Tricorne: The American RevolutionCommands & Colors Tricorne: The American Revolution published by Compass Games2018Board Game: Commands & Colors: MedievalCommands & Colors: Medieval published by GMT Games2019Board Game: Red Alert: Space Fleet WarfareRed Alert: Space Fleet Warfare published by PSC Games2020Board Game: Commands & Colors Tricorne: Jacobite RisingCommands & Colors Tricorne: Jacobite Rising published by Compass Games2021Board Game: Commands & Colors: Samurai BattlesCommands & Colors: Samurai Battles published by GMT Games
