Hex Bit Handle with M5-Nut for Strength

Hex Bit Handle with M5-Nut for Strength

prusaprinters

The handle of a cheap screwdriver split and with the hex bits still around I designed this compact handle. It has 2 modes of usage, a magnet and nuts for robustness. It has 2 positions for the hex bits:In the thin end. For use like a screwdriver and only light jobs.Between M5 Nuts in the upper part. For use like a wrench and with more force.Metal Inserts:The second position uses a magnet to hold the bit in place. The M5 nuts surround the bit and negate wear and tear of the plastic part. The metal parts are inserted mid print when the print pauses after a layer change. On my printer (Marlin firmware) I needed to use M0 to pause the print. I recommend first trying the pause print command M601 or the color change command M600, as in the example gcode file.Dimensions:Fits a ~quarter inch hex bit (~6.35mm)There are 2 stl files depending on how well your printer is tuned in:Small tolerance: 6.56 mm for both hex slotsLarge tolerance: 7.2 mm for hex slot printed flat, 8.2 mm for hex slot printed standingFeel free to comment if you need a different bit size.Category: Hand Tools
