Herrnhuter Stern

The Herrnhuter Stern is a classic Christmas decoration that can be found all over Germany, with its origins rooted in traditional paper craft held together by tiny pins. This particular version boasts the same timeless style but with some notable variations. Crafted to be printed in Vase/Surface mode with continuous extrusion, these models can be easily printed on almost any 3D printer. I opted for red Colorfab XT, a vibrant color that offers superior heat resistance, which is essential since I employed hot glue to assemble the parts and installed a small lightbulb at its center. To create a complete Herrnhuter Star, you will need to print a total of 25 pieces: 17 larger four-sided points and 8 smaller three-sided points. Printing these models proved to be a straightforward process, with an estimated total print time of approximately 17 hours. Note: To ensure a fully enclosed star with a lightbulb at its center, you will need to print one additional piece, bringing the total count to 25.
