SO. . . The stock fan mount for the CR10/10s/10s Pro hotend is a major letdown in terms of engineering, from my perspective. The fan not only cools the hotend but also the part itself, and the shroud creates turbulence that leads to noisy and inefficient airflow. It's also large, blocking visibility and heavier than it needs to be, which means less mass moving equals less ringing and backlash. I love the HeroMe concept - it moves the fan up and at an angle, creating less turbulence and allowing for better part cooling ducts. What I didn't like was that you had to dismount the carriage just to install it and flash new offsets. For what I want to accomplish, it seemed excessive. So, inspired by HeroMe CR10S Pro mounts and fans, I built a brand-new mount from scratch. It installs without needing to disassemble anything except the old metal mount and fan. It decreases mass, allows for more airflow, and targets the hotend heat sink for better cooling while printing less. To pair with it, I remixed a HeroMe fan duct that mounts nicely to my hotend mount. I extended the cooling nozzle a bit, also removed some of the internal baffles that did nothing at all for air flow at static pressure and flows of the standard blower fan. The "baffles" in this remix serve more as internal supports for the nozzle. This design is quieter than the stock HeroMe one. Print the parts in the orientation shown above with supports (I use Cura Tree and PTEG). Installation involves removing the existing mount and fan, installing the hotend fan mount to the carriage using M3 screws, installing the blower fan into the part cooling duct, and securing it to the hotend mount with one M3 screw. I do not recommend a shroud or "fan guard" as it will just create noise and lower flow. There is a small block on the back of the mount that serves as a support for thin sides when printing - simply snip the block off (see above) and you're good to go. Enjoy! With 100 hours of printing on my CR10S Pro and zero issues with multiple filament types, I'm confident in this design.
