Heron's Fountain

The Heron's Fountain, a first-century Greek invention, operates through the pressure of water flowing from an upper basin into a lower chamber, causing it to siphon water from a middle reservoir back into the initial basin in a continuous loop until the middle reservoir's water is depleted. To initiate the fountain, fill the central reservoir by pouring water through the basin's center hole, then seal it and add water to the upper basin. The fountain continues running until there's no more water in the middle reservoir; empty it by unstoppering and inverting it. This educational toy teaches children about hydraulics or serves as a decorative piece. Kids can even try building their own fountains using old soda bottles and straws.
