Heroic Bust of Victor Hugo, Rodin, Portland Art Museum

As a member of Portland's thriving makers' community, I'm proud to be part of the Layer Geeks group. We've even established a Meetup club called the "Portland 3D Printing Lab," where we enthusiastically discuss 3D printing and push each other to create innovative projects. One of our most exciting endeavors is the #crowdcow challenge, in which we 3D print life-size cows. I recently had the privilege of collaborating with the Portland Art Museum on a project that was truly one-of-a-kind. The museum asked me to use my Structure scanner from Occipital, mounted on an iPad, to capture high-resolution 3D scans of the Cantor Foundation's Rodin statues. As I worked, I watched in real-time as the object was digitized into a printable model right before my eyes. To refine and perfect the scan, I employed Autodesk's powerful Meshmixer application. I'm deeply grateful to the Portland Art Museum for making this incredible opportunity possible, allowing me to share these scans with fellow makers like myself. If you're in the area, be sure to visit "Auguste Rodin: The Human Experience," an exhibit that showcases the museum's stunning collection of Rodin sculptures through April 2017. I invite you to join us in exploring the maker movement by creating your own projects using these scans. You can print them for yourself or as a gift for a friend, and be a part of our vibrant community of creatives.
