The Ludovisi Hermes, also previously known as Mercurio Oratore ("Mercury the Orator"), is a Hellenistic sculpture depicting the god Hermes in his guise of Hermes Psychopompus. Crafted from Italic marble, it's a Roman replica from the 1st century AD, modeled after an inferred bronze original created around 440 BC by Phidias or alternatively referred to as "Myronic". This piece stands out as one of the earliest sculptural representations of Hermes as beardless and youthful. The Ludovisi collection acquired this object, which was owned by Cardinal Ludovico Ludovisi.
