Hermera mount block for Ender 5
thingiverse
This is a robust mount block for the Ender 5 to mount a Hermera extruder assembly onto an Ender 5. This mod requires the removal and modification of the stock Ender 5 hotend carriage plate. Two 5.1mm diameter holes are added to the carriage plate. A 5mm to 5.3mm diameter hole is drilled on the X-axis rail of the printer. The hole on the rail provides access to one of the M5 button head screws used to secure the mount block. Once these mods are made it will no longer be necessary to dissassemble and remove the carriage to work on the Hermera assembly. Losening two screws is all that will be required to remove the Hermera extruder/hotend assembly. This project is ongoing as I type and I will include the dimensions for the location and diameter of two holes that have to be added to the stock hotend carriage plate a a later date. The holes on the plate can also be transferred from the printed mount block. The 5mm to 5.3mm access hole on the X-axis rail can be 150mm from either end of the rail. ***** 12/13/19 Modified the file to lignten the part and now Hex and Square M5 nuts can be used to secure the adaper plate to the Ender 5 carriage plate. 12/13/19 Added PDF file with hole dimensions for the two requred 5.3mm diameter holes on the carriage plate. 12/13/19 Included pic of Nylon line material I used to provide a controlled arc for the extruder cables. 12/17/19 Added picture of my modifid Ender 5. I removed the front top frame cross piece and use it as an upright for the stock spool holder. Used corner braces to secure the side rails at the top corners. I substituted the stock Ender 5 extruder motor in place of the weak Z-Axis motor. The print bed no longer drops on its own with steppers diassabled. All of the stepper motor drivers VEF set to 900mV. Only the X-Axis motor hot to touch, but finger can stay in place. May decrease voltage at a later date. Cable management needs to be improved. 12/23/19 Added file for new X-axis limit switch mount. Installs to X axis rail with two M5 screws and M5 T-nuts. One M4 x 12mm screw and nut to fasten the limit switch circuit board.
