Hermera mount block for Ender 5
thingiverse
This is a sturdy adapter block designed specifically for mounting a Hermera extruder assembly onto an Ender 5 printer. To install this mod, you'll need to remove and modify the stock Ender 5 hotend carriage plate. Two precise 5.1mm diameter holes are drilled into the carriage plate, providing a solid base for the adapter block. A 5mm to 5.3mm diameter hole is carefully drilled on the X-axis rail of the printer, giving access to one of the M5 button head screws that secure the mount block in place. After these modifications are made, you'll no longer need to disassemble and remove the carriage to work on the Hermera assembly - loosening just two screws will do the trick. This project is an ongoing effort, but I'm committed to including the dimensions for the location and diameter of the two holes that need to be added to the stock hotend carriage plate at a later date. The holes on the plate can also be easily transferred from the printed mount block. The 5mm to 5.3mm access hole on the X-axis rail can be positioned anywhere between 150mm from either end of the rail. Updates and Improvements: 12/13/19 - Modified the file to lighten the part, allowing Hex and Square M5 nuts to be used for secure attachment to the Ender 5 carriage plate. 12/13/19 - Added a PDF file containing hole dimensions for the two required 5.3mm diameter holes on the carriage plate. 12/13/19 - Included an image of Nylon line material used to provide a controlled arc for the extruder cables. Additional Enhancements: 12/17/19 - Added a picture of my modified Ender 5, featuring a removed front top frame cross piece repurposed as an upright for the stock spool holder. Corner braces were installed to secure the side rails at the top corners. The weak Z-Axis motor was replaced with the stock Ender 5 extruder motor, resolving the issue of the print bed dropping on its own when steppers are disabled. All stepper motor drivers have been set to 900mV. Although the X-Axis motor remains hot to touch, a finger can still remain in place without discomfort. Cable management needs improvement for optimal performance. 12/23/19 - Added a file for a new X-axis limit switch mount, which installs to the X axis rail with two M5 screws and M5 T-nuts. A single M4 x 12mm screw and nut fasten the limit switch circuit board in place.
