The striking features of his head embody elements that are unmistakably reminiscent of the iconic Hermes Propylaios statue attributed to Alkamenes, renowned sculptor of ancient Greece. These distinct characteristics are instantly recognizable, and it is clear that the artist responsible for crafting them was a master craftsman who worked extensively in creating bearded herms during the Flavian period. Although this particular work may not have been created by Alkamenes himself, it is evident that the artist drew heavily from his classical designs, skillfully replicating them with great attention to detail and adherence to traditional techniques. Unfortunately, the intended purpose of this head remains unclear.
