Herm of Discobolus
myminifactory
The athletic body of the Discobolus is captured in mid-air as he lifts the discus high above his left shoulder. The sculpture adheres strictly to a more rigid archaic model, specifically the bronze statue crafted by renowned sculptor Pythagoras of Reggio between 470 and 469 BC, or the statue of an athlete immortalized in an ancient inscription from the 5th Century that once stood proudly on the Athenian Acropolis. This magnificent object is part of "Scan The World", a groundbreaking non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory to create a comprehensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe, freely accessible to the public. Scan The World is an open-source community effort that welcomes contributors; if you have interesting items nearby and would like to contribute, simply email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can help make a difference.
