Hercules Tug Ship - 1907 Low-poly 3D model

This 3D drawing is an exact reproduction on a smaller scale of the Historical Tug Hercules, which has recently been recovered and displayed in San Francisco. The History: In 1907, two ocean-going tugs were ordered by The Shipowners Towboat Company of San Francisco from John H. Dialogue & Sons of Camden, New Jersey. Hercules and her sister Goliath were the first riveted steel hull tugs to be built at a time when most tugs, even smaller ones, were still constructed out of wood. They were 150 feet long, powered by a triple expansion (three cylinders) steam engine with 1000 horsepower. Their steam towing winch was designed to handle 1200 feet of 1.75-inch steel wire towing cable. Hercules Tug started her operations towing all around America from New Jersey to San Francisco through the Strait of Magellan, alongside her sister Goliath. She continued to be operational in the ocean until 1922 when she was towing oil tank barges, disabled steamers, and performing continuous harbor activity. She also participated in the construction of the Panama Canal, towing lock gates and crossing the canal to deliver a dredge to Jacksonville, Florida. In 1922, purchased by The Western Pacific Railroad Company, continued her activity in San Francisco Bay, mainly for railroad services until 1962. After years spent idle in Oakland Estuary, in 1975 she finally became part of the U.S. Historic Fleet and docked at the Hyde Street Pier in San Francisco. Fully restored to operation by volunteer teams, and operating several times a year, she was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1986, recognized as the only ocean-going steam tug on the West Coast. The ongoing maintenance project of the Tug is part of the Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) program to document historically significant engineering works in the United States. This model has been independently drawn based on detailed blueprints published by HAER, for which I am grateful. Each object, individually named in English, within this 3D drawing, has been grouped together for operational simplicity into three groups: Hull, Cabins, and Accessories. Numerous texture images have been used to apply materials to the model. The complete set of these textures are included with every format file supplied, available for download in zipped mode. Sea and landscape scenery have not been included within the files provided, but relevant images used for the artistic renderings offered as a result of this project can be found within the texture pack. The inside of the tug remains empty, except for a rough representation of the triple expansion steam engine, the rudder wheel, and compass in place.
