Her Majesty with Hair
thingiverse
I'm working on a new version of Her Majesty with a full head of hair. Unfortunately, my efforts to style her locks were for naught, as I was too afraid to apply too much heat from the blow dryer and end up damaging them. To ensure the accuracy of the horse's dimensions, I've taken the liberty of separating its model from that of the hair, which I carefully crafted in Fusion 360. This approach also allows me to assign a distinct color to the hair, setting it apart from the rest of the model. Each strand of hair is precisely 0.2 millimeters in diameter, and with my printer's nozzle size being 0.4 millimeters, I thought it would be easy to print high-quality hair strands at a layer height of 0.2 millimeters. However, for some reason, Simplify 3D wasn't cooperating, and I couldn't get the desired results until I reduced the layer height to 0.16 millimeters. Perhaps this is due to the specific material being used. Additionally, enabling retraction resulted in much cleaner hair lines, although it's possible that this may not be the case with all materials. It's worth noting that Simplify 3D only sliced the hair for printing once I adjusted the settings to allow single extrusion walls. If you're using a different slicer and can't see the hair when slicing the model, be aware of this setting and adjust accordingly.
