"Hephaistos" 3d-Printed Boomerang
thingiverse
Hephaistos was the son of Zeus and Hera, but his mother deemed him so ugly she expelled him from Mount Olympus. He lived to become the primordial maker, though, fabricating all kinds of mythical goods. That was the name that occured to me when I played around with a somewhat disfigured hook shape that turns out to be a pretty nice flyer. Throw low and with a bit of layover. The 90% print I have made has some pretty impressive 40 meter-ish range. It may need some wind to make a full return. The make shown in the thumbnail is smaller at about 210 mm wingspan. It's quite easy and pleasant to throw, but does not have the same range as the larger prints of course.
