This REMIX is a combination of two types of enclosure filters, see "How I Designed This" for more into. BOM: 12 - #4 self-tapping sheet metal screws, 3/4" long. 1 - HEPA filter with tab cut off: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0776VHVN2 1 - Carbon Filter, cut to fit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000U204W2 1 - 120mm, 12v fan. I'm using one that I had for component cooling: https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NF-P12-120mm-Cooling-3-Pin/dp/B000YSONMO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1545999432&sr=8-3&keywords=120mm+noctua+fan a "High Static Pressure Fan" may be needed. Print: JKSniper's "Front_cover" and "Exhaust_cover" components: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2105113/files MegardStudio's "Center Grill REMIX": https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3137201 Note: Carbon Filter is thin and there is extra depth in the "Front_cover" and Center Grill. Just leave the carbon filter a little larger so it folds into the dept of the cover. Carbon Filter acts as both a pre-filter and to remove smells. HEPA filter just removes tiny particulates from the air. Print Settings Printer: Anet A8 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 5% to 10% Filament: 3D Solutech PLA Notes: Needs supports for the mounting wings only. How I Designed This =================== Designed in PTC Creo 4.0 and adjusted for better HEPA depth clearance and added mounting wings so the housing can be attached to roof or floor of an enclosure like LAKS. With mounting wings in the middle, you can mount with carbon filter or HEPA filter on the exit side. I spent time researching on the better side to place filters. I found a University of Michigan room HEPA study where they found a standard HEPA furnace filter attached to a box fan performs 90-95% of a $500 USD HEPA machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH5APw_SLUU I read another article where the author visits China regularly. They used a small HEPA filter attached to a fan for their apartment/bedroom. They wanted to find out if attaching the filter to the entry side or exit side of the fan performed any differently. What the author discovered that it didn't matter, as long as the filter to fan distance was the same, filtering performance was the same. The Author also noted that home furnace's are pre-filtered to protect equipment and in some cases, such as clean-room's, they are pre and post filtered. https://www.quora.com/Where-should-an-air-filter-be-placed-relative-to-the-fan-for-best-efficiency JKSniper's design was good, as it allows for pre-filtering either by carbon filter or HEPA, however it lacked the ability to mount to the top of a LAKS enclosure: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2105113 danailch's design had LAKS top mounting, but lacked a inlet side filter or a housing for the carbon filter: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3102372 I took JKSniper's design and added mounting tabs, similar to danailch, then adjusted for a deeper HEPA filter.
