Henri Mattise - Blue Nudes
thingiverse
The Blue Nudes are a renowned set of cut-out gouaches by Henri Matisse, completed in 1952. This series features female nudes either sitting or standing and marked the final phase of Matisse's artistic career. During the 1940s, Matisse suffered from poor health which led him to replace painting with paper cut-outs. The color blue represented distance and volume for Matisse, who initially employed solid blocks of single color in his works due to struggles with contrasting tones. Inspiration for the Blue Nudes came from Matisse's African sculpture collection and a 1930 trip to Tahiti. It wasn't until two decades later and after an operation that left him incapacitated, that Matisse combined these influences into this groundbreaking series.
