Henneberg Surface
thingiverse
This is a printable version of the Henneberg Surface. The Henneberg Surface is a non-orientable minimal surface with two cylindrical supports at its base. (D.B., T.S., MAT 363, Fall 2016). Print Settings Printer Brand: SeeMeCNC Printer: Rostock MAX Rafts: No Supports: Yes Notes: The Henneberg Surface printed without issues at its current size. More supports may be needed for larger scaled versions of the attached file. Post-Printing Optional: The two supports at the bottom were made small/thin enough to break off if desired after printing the file. They were added to avoid any issues during printing. We designed this surface after creating our other project, the Klein Bottle. Both are non-orientable surfaces, and as the first project was a success, we wanted to see what other non-orientable surfaces we could create on Rhino. We found a parameterization for the surface itself on Wikipedia, and easily created a surface from these parameterizations by copying the separate equations into Rhino. From there, it was a matter of trial and error to find the right size for pipes and number of polygons.
