Hemera 5015 Fan Shroud - Simple

thingiverse

**----Overview----** This simple fan shroud is designed for use with a 5015 blower and bolts directly to the lower two mounting points on the Hemera motor. It was inspired by the MK3S fan shroud, but with a twist: the fan is tilted away from vertical at 30 degrees, and two flanking ducts blow air from the sides towards the back of the nozzle. Any tips on improving the performance of this shroud would be greatly appreciated! A .step file for advanced users has been included. Print in PETG, ASA, or other materials that won't warp like PLA. Support the mounting arm, and consider using lower layer heights (0.1-0.15ish) to produce cleaner ceilings inside the duct. Mounting Hardware: * 2 × M3x5 socket head bolts - into supplied square nuts * 1 × M3x20 socket head bolt - threads into plastic * 1 × M3 washer **---- Update v0.3 - Untested ----** February 26, 2020, 21:09 __Changes from V0.2__ By popular demand, this version adds 6 mm of negative vertical adjustment. A bit more material has been shaved off the bottom to improve nozzle visibility. The main opening now directs airflow further downward. Thin wall problems at the flanking ducts have been fixed. **---- Update v0.2 - Benchmarked ----** December 11, 2019 __Result__ Bridged as before with a 60-degree front and sides, and 50-degree rear angle. This version is an improvement over v0.1. __Changes from v0.1__ The direct duct blew too far below the nozzle in v0.1, cooling the print body and causing corner curling. To fix this, the main duct was angled more toward the horizontal and focused on blowing air along the bottom of the nozzle rather than the block. The main duct's cross section has also been restricted to increase side cooling. **---- Update v0.1 - Benchmarked ----** December 9, 2019 __Result__ Bridged almost perfectly with a 50-degree angle in all directions. While not amazing, this version is consistent and will be improved upon. __Changes from v0.0__ In v0.0, most airflow was behind the nozzle, and the straight duct was mostly obstructed by the silicone sock. To fix this, the wings were shortened about 5 mm, and the direct orifice was moved back and sloped downward slightly. **Testing Methodology** Print TeachingTech's fan torture test - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3167063 Consider last angle increment that looks like the previous to be the max angle. Conditions: * AmazonBasics White PLA (original supplier) * 205°C nozzle * 0.2 mm layer height * 60 mm/s inner perimeters, 30 mm/s outer * 2 perimeters * 0.4 mm extrusion width
