Helping Hands Upgrades For Fishing Lure Painting
thingiverse
Looking for a way to securely hold fishing lures while painting them with an airbrush, I was inspired by this YouTube video from the "Engineered Angler," where he manufactured enhancements from wood and drink bottle tops to add help hands. Help hands are designed to hold two or more wires together (hands-free) while soldering a join. They're also a great choice for holding fishing lures during the painting process. With no woodworking skills, I decided to draw and print his enhancements. I also needed four small springs to connect the parts together. I made these using a battery drill after watching another YouTube video. The inside diameter of the springs needs to be approximately 4mm to attach to each of the connectors. I found that the optimal length of the springs I turned is 10mm. Any longer and it didn't hold the lure firmly enough. To make a 10mm spring, ID ~4mm, I used a 3.5mm drill bit and 300mm of 0.7mm stainless spring steel wire, allowing for some wastage. Cut it down to 10mm.
