Helping Hands Base for Soldering
thingiverse
This is meant to be a mod for the helping hands kit available from microcenter [link here](https://www.microcenter.com/product/412729/eclipse-enterprise-octopus-helping-hands). The kit comes with a really inconvenient mount for the hands and it only lets you use 4 of the 6 attachments at a time. I wanted a base for the arms that I could move around, and it needed to accommodate all the arms as well as be stable enough to not wobble around. The design I came up with actually uses the original mounting C clamp metal pieces as a weight to make the base nice and sturdy. The design has a space inside the base where you can embed the two pieces. You need to set your slicer to pause at layer 53 so you have time to place the pieces inside. I used a bit of hot glue and then quickly stuck the pieces down to make sure they don't rattle around. Then you can resume the print and if you were careful to not move the bed around then everything should come together well. For the arms I used 6 M3 8mm bolts to keep them secure. They should be able to screw right into their dedicated holes.
