Helping Hand Base
thingiverse
I bought a "Helping Hand Jig" from Harbor Freight* not too long ago, and while the price was right and it's been a fantastic aid with my soldering projects, I have to admit that I'm still a bit disappointed that it tips over so easily.\r\n\r\nThe first picture in this listing shows the original cast iron base alongside the new base I made. The original base may be heavy, but it's incredibly easy to tip over. In contrast, the new printed base is lightweight, yet you really have to put some effort into making it tip over.\r\n\r\nI carefully sized all of the parts so that they can only fit together with a little pressure, but if you're concerned about them coming apart, just use a small amount of super glue during assembly.\r\n\r\nI included three posts, since I tend to misplace, break, or damage them on a daily basis.\r\n\r\nThis new base works wonderfully for me, and I'm hoping it will be useful to you as well.\r\n\r\n* Harbor Freight Helping Hands, Item #60501.
