Helping hand

I crafted these assisting arms to lend me a hand while working on my own projects or when I need an extra pair of hands, literally. They still require some fine-tuning and feedback is more than welcome. Please download and modify them, then upload your remix with credit to this original design so everyone can see what works and what doesn't. I'll continue adding a base that incorporates a built-in g clamp for secure attachment to a countertop or desk, or you can use a standard clamp or heavy object on the base instead. To build this project, you'll need some tension rod stock, which I sourced from discarded printers, so there's no need to purchase any. I used M4x30 bolts and sanded the bolt heads square to fit snugly into the turn knob holes. A tiny drop of acetone in each hole helped secure the bolt, but this step is optional. The horizontal bar can be rotated by loosening the top knob, rotating the bar, then tightening the knob again for a secure lock. I fitted some inexpensive alligator clips from online retailers into the alligator arms and glued them in place, but feel free to suggest better methods or share your own solutions through comments or uploads.
