Helper clip "Muraffe" with magnetic feet using clothespin spring
prusaprinters

There are hundreds of PCB-holders and third-hand designs out there. Most of the designs are quite large and often complicated. I wanted to make a small, simple, and working tool to hold various items when soldering PCBs and similar items. I could not find one to my liking, so I quickly sketched my own. Using a single spring from a clothespin and two 10mm neodymium magnets, I developed a happy "Muraffe" holder who gets the job done.

My "Muraffes" are printed with 0.3mm layer height with 20% infill with no supports. They turned out well and can take the forces of my quite strong spring well.

10 x 2 mm Neodymium magnets are press fit on my printer's tolerances, and you may need to modify diameter to match your tolerances. Some clothespins have a different type of spring that will require modifications to the design. I attached the Fusion360 source design to make design changes as easy as possible.

Remember, "Muraffe" is a herd animal and feels lonely as single. Print two of them to keep them happy.

Feel free to use my Fusion360 source files to make it serve your needs.

Print instructions

No supports needed. Make sure to slice them Muraffe laying on it's side. With these settings my Prusa I3 MK3S prints the whole thing in 38 minutes.
