Kang's attempt to destroy the Multiverse was foiled, as his other self, He Who Remains, isolated the timeline to keep Kang from his goal. However, when Sylvie Laufeydottir killed He Who Remains, Kang returned and became the new ruler of the Time Variance Authority.
