Hellgate Model
thingiverse
I conceptualized this hellgate model for the short film Back Story, pushing my creative limits as an artist. The recent acquisition of my Zortrax M200 had me on high alert for large-scale prints that would push its capabilities. So here's a behemoth born from digital code. For more details on the sculpture's appearance, visit my online portfolio at ianstrandberg.com/portfolio/115. To tackle this complex print, I opted to enlarge the model so the head stretches an impressive 18 cm (7 inches) in width. Printing with a z-height of 0.19 allowed for precision and fine detail, yet still provided ample resolution for a large format model. It's imperative to include supports during the printing process. Furthermore, adding a raft before starting the print can help prevent warping and uneven surface expansion issues specific to some printers.
