Helios 44M-4 Nikon mounting plate + infinity focus adjustment
thingiverse
I have edited the Nikon mounting plate for the Helios 44M-4 lens originally made by jelte1234 to have a slightly thicker body for more durability/easier support removal with resin printers and also removed a bit of structure that was overlapping with the metal plate on my particular lens. To achieve infinity focus with this mounting plate you need to bring the optical block towards the sensor by about 1mm. That distance is made possible by adjusting the optical block free from the focus ring inside the lens body. Detailed video on how to properly adapt a Helios 44M-4 lens for nikon cameras here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHXMXRhoMNI The part where he starts showing the optical block adjustment starts at 13 minutes. It is a relatively simple procedure involving just 6 screws in total and took me around 30 minutes to complete. I highly recommend a magnetic screwdriver or just stick a magnet on a regular one for this so putting the screws back in goes a lot smoother. Using this method will also allow you to dial back the optical block if your lens ends up focusing slightly past infinity as mine did. I just opened it up a second time and adjusted the block again so that the infinity focus setting on focus ring is exactly at optical infinity. The first sample photo is taken with aperture f2 and the second with f5.6
