Helion TR9 GT
grabcad
My second take on the TR9 I uploaded earlier, a GT racer. The road going TR9 is my idea of a classy weekend driver, simple, not too brash with design cues from classic hi-fi stereos and grand pianos. Put in a a couple good CD's, surfboard on the passenger seat and bomb down to the beach. Helion TR9 The GT spec, on the other hand, is my effort to make the electric car socially acceptable at the track....oh yes....and turbines...two of them!! It may sound ridiculous, but companies like Bladon and Capstone already produce micro-turbines for use in vehicles. Technical innovation in 3D machining has made it very cost effective to manufacture small turbine fans. Combined with developments in battery and ultra-capacitor technology, reliable turbine powered vehicles are a viable option. They run cleanly on a variety of fuels, natural gas, propane, kerosene, diesel, 20 year old scotch whiskey...hot sauce. OK maybe not hot sauce. The electric car will have its day, and I believe it will be best helped with a dedicated high-performance, racing series to speed development. I would love to have done more on this model, suspension and cooling system would have been nice, but at this point it's a work in progress. I hope it is still intriguing enough to catch the eyes of kids and get them thinking. Would be awesome to open-source a project like this at GrabCAD, get a working model going. Hope you like. Added a render with a logo designed by my younger sister, she's pretty handy with a stylus. http://www.solidsmack.com/contests/solidsmack-awesome-sauce-design-contest
