Helicopter Pull, Push, Downhill Toy
cults3d
An animated helicopter pull, push, downhill toy comes to life as its main and tail rotors spin rapidly when pushed, pulled or sent down a steep hill at high speed. The prototype gear trains were printed in various colors to showcase their intricate design, while an open cockpit was designed to highlight the operation of gears both beveled and linear for young engineers to study closely. A video showcasing the prototype can be found online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c_GuncghxQ. The creation of this video was a collaborative effort involving my wonderful wife, sister-in-law, kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews, who had a blast producing it along with the audio. I'm printing more of these toys for families, schools and labs to enjoy. They were designed using Sketchup Make 2015 and printed in PLA on a Makerbot Replicator 2 using Makerware 2.3.3.42 "Standard" Settings, with a layer height of .2mm, 2 shells and 10% infill.
