Helicopter Pull, Push, Downhill Toy
myminifactory
Animated helicopters whizz by as kids eagerly push, pull or send them downhill. The main and tail rotors spin wildly as these toys speed down a hill. I designed the prototype gear trains in various colors to showcase their operation for young engineers. The open cockpit lets them see how beveled and linear gears work together. You can check out the prototype in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c_GuncghxQ. My family had a blast helping me produce the video and audio. They all thought it was great, just like I did! I'm printing more of these toys for them, schools, and labs to enjoy. I used Sketchup Make 2015 to design this toy and printed it in PLA on my Makerbot Replicator 2 using Makerware 2.3.3.42 "Standard" Settings (.2mm layer height, 2 shells, 10% infill).
