Helical Gear

Helical Gear

myminifactory

Helical or dry fixed gears provide a refined alternative to spur gears. The leading edges of their teeth aren't parallel to the axis of rotation; instead, they're angled inward. Because the gear is curved, this angling causes each tooth to be a segment of a helix. Helical gears can mesh in either parallel or crossed orientations. In the former arrangement, the shafts run parallel to one another - this setup is most commonly used. The latter configuration features non-parallel shafts; in some cases, these gears are referred to as "skew gears".
