Helical Drive Gear for Garage Door

This drive gear is specifically designed for Overhead brand garage door opener models 456, 556, and 551. The model 556 has been thoroughly tested and proven to be a perfect fit. A disturbing discovery was made when it was found that the garage door had become a thrill ride for my son, resulting in a broken drive gear that needed immediate replacement. I designed a new drive gear that may not resemble the original part exactly, but it worked flawlessly in my garage door setup. Initially, I attempted to print the gear in ABS plastic, but struggled with achieving the ideal heat balance between bonding the part and melting its delicate teeth. As a result, I shifted to printing with PLA plastic, which yielded a flawless print. To ensure maximum durability, I recommend using 100% infill settings for this drive gear design, considering the significant stress exerted by the garage door motor and the possibility of someone attempting to ride the door.
