Helical Arrow Vanes
thingiverse
Made precision arrow vanes and fletchers that can be printed in vase mode, which easily slide onto an 8mm wood dowel or pipe. Also designed a versatile arrow tip that can be securely pushed to the top. After conducting multiple iterations, arrows were recorded in mid-air at slow-motion speed to optimize stability. Various shapes and twist angles were tested, and the three most effective designs are included in this package. For enhanced accuracy, print the fletchers at 130% Z-scale. Additionally, balancing the arrow by making it slightly front-heavy will minimize speed loss; techniques include inserting hot glue into the pipe's front or a nail inside the wooden dowel behind the tip. These modifications result in negligible speed drops. Recommended items: 1 x 8mm dowel or pipe (50-60cm long), and 1 x Tejp (optional but not necessary due to tight fit). Print fletchers in vase mode with a brim, and the tip at 100% infill. I used PLA+ for the prints, which hold up surprisingly well.
