This new front shaft is specifically designed for the planetary gear mechanism, featuring a deliberate cutout that allows one of the original washers to securely fit within it. This clever design ensures the shaft stays firmly in place even when being turned, preventing the gears from drifting out as they tend to do with the handle's rotation, which would otherwise cause unwanted drag on the gears.
