The Heinkel He-177 A-5 was a German heavy bomber featuring the innovative Ruhrstahl/Kramer glide bomb, Fritz X. In 1944, it was operated by 1./KG 40 based in France. The 3D model of this aircraft has been meticulously recreated in cinema4D for detailed close-up renders. The zip file includes BodyPaint textures and standard materials. The scene features a model, 20 textures, 1 material, and 1 alpha map. All necessary files are included with no cleaning up required. The model works with lwo, 3ds, fbx, c4d, and obj formats, including separate fly and ground versions. Note that the alphamap (Run_Alpha) must be manually loaded in the Alphacanal or Transparencycanal for these formats. This model was created using R16 of cinema4D and has 173,146 polygons, 123,324 vertices, and consists of 30 objects with 20 textures, 1 material, and 1 alpha map. Designed in 1936-37, the He-177 was a highly advanced heavy bomber, boasting numerous innovations such as coupled engines (4 engines driving 2 propellers), surface evaporative engine cooling, remote-controlled turrets, fully pressurized crew compartments, and a unique 4-leg landing gear arrangement. However, the DB 604 coupled engines had a tendency to catch fire in flight, leading to many aircraft being lost. By the time the A-5 model was introduced with DB 610 engines, addressing many of these issues, it was too late for Germany. Some He-177s were used as maritime patrol aircraft in France, against Russia, and in Operation Steinbock against England, but they ultimately failed to make a significant impact due to their late introduction and fuel being diverted to fighter planes. Today, no surviving He-177 aircraft exist. The He-177 was the only heavy bomber built by Germany in quantity during World War II.
