The Heinkel He.111, a German bomber from World War II's Luftwaffe, served on various European fronts. Among its notable uses were low-altitude ground-strafing missions by Major Herbert Wittman's plane, part of the KG (Kampfgeschwader) 53 unit group based in Olsufjewo, and transporting supplies to German forces at Stalingrad via the coded J aircraft.
