Heel Wedge
thingiverse
A parent approached me, concerned that their son's leg, still recovering from bone cancer surgery, was growing unevenly due to the titanium implant in his leg. The physical therapist had prescribed a wedge to help level out the boy's foot, but it was too short and didn't allow for proper alignment. The parent asked if I could redesign the wooden block to be one centimeter taller. I scanned the original design, measured its dimensions, and used Fusion360 to make adjustments. I increased the height of the wedge by a centimeter while maintaining its correct length and width. Once printed, the parent took the customized 3D print to the physical therapist for approval. The physical therapist was impressed with how well I had maintained the original design's integrity while making the necessary adjustments. They even commented on how professional it looked. It was a great feeling, especially since it was my first time creating a functional design.
