It's slightly smaller than scale to improve performance on the track. The electronics are simple yet incredibly powerful, making it an ideal choice for this project. NodeMCU offers its own script language, and thanks to enthusiasts who have worked tirelessly, it has been successfully ported to Arduino as well (see below for simple steps to follow in using it with the Arduino development software). In the supplied code, the NodeMCU board functions as a WiFi access point, creating its own wireless network that can be connected to by any device with a browser. Simply open the browser and type in the web server IP-address (192.168.4.1) to access a web page featuring buttons and controls for adjusting lights and motor speed. The program is surprisingly compact given its impressive capabilities, thanks to libraries that handle WiFi-related tasks - even those new to Arduino should be able to understand the code and make adjustments as needed.
