This versatile spool holder is designed to accommodate all sizes, fitting comfortably up to 4kg spools without any issues. A small hole in its base allows for a bowden tube to be securely attached, enabling it to be used on the side with direct drive systems. To assemble this spool holder, you will need four 608 bearings and possibly a rubber mallet to join the pieces together smoothly. On November 10th, 2019, an update was made that included two snap-on friction interfaces designed to add resistance to prevent the spool from rotating on its own. Over time, the spool can loosen up due to its ease of rolling, but these added pieces help maintain stability. The snap-on interfaces should be oriented so that the tab touching the frame is on the side towards which the spool rotates. On January 25th, 2020, another update was made with an alternate spool screw designed specifically for tighter 608 bearings, as the original version was meant to fit bearings with a slightly larger ID than 8mm. A further update was added on February 27th, 2020, introducing a new friction interface that utilizes 608 bearings. This updated design allows the bearings to ride on the screw clamp with controlled resistance, providing additional stability for large unbalanced spools prone to slack and tangles.
