Heavy-Duty 5kg Filament Holder
thingiverse
I needed a heavy-duty filament spool holder that could handle 5kg rolls of filament. I purchased the Texas Size spools from Zyltech here: http://www.zyltech.com/zyltech-filament/5kg-filament-spools/, but I needed a better way to have them spool through my extruder. I designed this around these bearings: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BN3X9BY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1, which I already had on hand. You will also need a 12inch x 3/4inch threaded rod, two 3/4inch washers, and four 3/4inch nuts to complete the project. To assemble the holder, you will need to print (2) of the Brackets - I created two designs, one more compact that will work on many machines and another a bit more robust that just looks cool! You will also need to print (2) bushings and (2) Bearing Holders. Simply insert the bearing into the bearing holder, then slide in the bushing. Place the bearing holder, bearing, and bushing onto the threaded rod followed by a washer and nut. Hand-tighten both sides, center everything, and make sure it's secure. Once assembled, place the brackets on either side of the holder and hand-tighten the nuts against the outside of the bracket. I printed all the parts with 30% infill and they seem strong enough.
