I am new to all of this, so someone who is more skilled could probably clean up this model quite effectively. The model seems to have a lot of unnecessary overlapping shells, but both Slic3r and Cura were able to work around that issue and print it properly. This is the Heavy Dragon from the video game X3: Terran Conflict and X3: Albion Prelude. As extracted and converted, this model measures 900mm in length, so it needs to be scaled down in your slicer to fit on most standard printers. The printed part shown in the pictures has been scaled down to 10% - 90mm long. It was printed using a layer height of .2 on a Tevo Tarantula. This model requires extensive support due to its complex design, and it also needs supports all over the place. For some reason, when oriented nose-down, it didn't want to sit properly on the bed in Slic3r, so I had to add a lot of support just to make up for the gap. Again, I am new to this process, so someone with more skills may be able to get around that problem more effectively. There are also two STL files included - one exported from my final step at less than 1mb, and the other at over 4mb. I couldn't really tell the difference between them, but I included both for your convenience. I converted these STL files from a .OBJ file using Rhinoceros. The original file was extracted from the game using X3 Editor 2, and then taken through an intermediate step in Gmax to convert the .BOD file to the .OBJ. Please note that I do not own the license to these files. I claim no ownership whatsoever. If EgoSoft has any issues with this item being posted in this way, I will gladly remove it. I simply wanted an X3 toy and thought I'd share the resulting STL file since extraction and conversion was a bit of a process. Also, please note that there is no turret or gun details included, as those are separate models in the game and I have no idea what I'm actually doing.
