Get rid of springs and additional plates, then mount the heated bed directly onto the rail plate using these mounts. # Benefits 1. You will gain an extra 1.5-2 cm in height for your print surface. 2. With wider X and Y print surfaces if you used to hold the heated bed with paper clips like I did, now you can mount it directly with 4 M3 screws. 3. The reduced mass of the print surface leads to less vibrations and better print quality (in theory). # Additional actions & items needed 1. Get 4xM3 screws. 2. Use 4xM3 nuts with a nylon insert, which keeps the bolt in place on vibrating surfaces. Although this is optional as M3 threads keep the print plate pretty solid. 3. You will need 1 or 2 additional M4 screws. 4. Enable AUTO_BED_LEVELING_BILINEAR. I highly recommend using bilinear bed leveling since we're getting rid of leveling springs. Check my marlin configuration for examples here: https://github.com/Pawka/marlin-melephant Just don't use it straight forward on your printer without additional calibration as I'm using different extruder and replaced some other parts. Use it as an example only. I highly recommend printing the supports with a stronger material than PLA, like PETG or ABS. Although I was able to print PETG parts with much thinner PLA mounts - probably they won't last long.
