Heated Bed for Mendelmax ( 2 )
thingiverse
A custom heated bed was designed for Mendelmax 2 and 3D printers. The design goals were: to strengthen the assembly for safe transportation; to boost power density to approximately 0.4 watts per square centimeter; to minimize PSU load and current by using 230 volts; and be compatible with standard RepRap hardware as well as the Mendelmax 2 and 1.5 designs. A big thank you to the people at Kiboplast who helped source and manufacture all parts necessary. A video of the heated bed in use is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo64K0kqBeI Preassembled sets are for purchase on www.kiboplast.de The aluminum alloy sheets used for lasercutting plates should be 4mm thick, specifically AlMg3 / EN AW-5754 or an equivalent material. High temperature resistant silicone is applied to the top plate where it's attached to a 350 W heating pad. Wiring follows the diagram as directed. Operation depends on the solid state relay used and "bang-bang" mode should be employed for safe temperature control. A lower plate, held securely with M5x25 bolts, features a 12mm-8mm silicone rubber tube around 15mm long which functions both as a spacer and a spring.
