Heat Set Insert Press - Dremel Adapter

Heat Set Insert Press - Dremel Adapter

I wanted to give heat-set inserts a shot on my next design without having to build or buy a new press, so I decided to repurpose my Dremel 220-01 Rotary Tool Work Station sitting idle on my bench. I hacked this thing: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3468979 I tweaked the adapter collar to be smaller and tapered, and also modified the latch to allow a power cord through. Sorry, no detailed pictures are available, but you can get the idea by checking out the STL file and the original design. This setup fits both my Weller and an old soldering iron I had lying around perfectly. There's no need to crank down the collar too hard; just push up the iron until it clicks in place, and then lightly tighten so it doesn't fall off. The pressure from the heat-set insert pushes against the tapered part, securing everything in place. The adapter uses a 4mm x 20mm screw and nut for stability.
