Heartgrenade (Green Day)
thingiverse
As a gift to myself, I recreated the heart grenade from the iconic album cover of Guns N' Roses. In the center of the heart grenade, you can place something small, like money in my case, which adds a personal touch. The two neodymium magnets hold it together securely. To print this design, you'll want to print one half normally and the other side upside down, so that both halves fit snugly together. I used four 25x8x2mm magnets, making sure to get the polarities correct before gluing them in place. For a smooth finish, I applied some cheap acrylic paint, but it's already starting to peel off - you may want to use a higher-quality coating or clear varnish instead. As seen in the photos, I also attempted to paint the magnets, but it didn't quite work out as planned... I'm still learning, and this is only my second 3D printing project. Without a hot end fan, the bridges on the cutouts came out slightly rough, but that's something you can improve upon. This was also my first time painting a 3D print, so there's definitely room for growth. Despite the many mishaps, it still turned out quite nice, and I hope you'll enjoy it too. By the way, this design has an unexpected bonus use: it makes a great fridge magnet! Printer Settings: Brand: RepRap Model: Geeetech Prusa i3 b Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 layer height Infill: 40% Notes: These settings may not be ideal, especially the infill could be adjusted lower. I used brims due to bed adhesion issues, but you might not need them.
